Abide

In Psalms 15:1 we find these words"Lord who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? Notice David has put two questions before the Lord. Lets take a look at one of the words in the first question. The word abide it comes from the Hebrew word gur. And it has several significations. I would like to share a couple of them with you this morning.
1.Is to turn aside from ones own way to some other person or place with the idea of lodging there. The happiest person in this world or the next is he who turns from his own way and abides in Him who is"the Way."

Did not Jesus say in John 14:6" Iam the way, the truth and the life: To truly come to know Jesus in this light we must learn to abide in the Word and see Jesus in every portion of it from Genesis to Revelation. I like the thought of lodging in the Word taking up residence in the Word to the point that all your thoughts are on the Word and it becomes so ingrafted in us that we radiate with the light of the Word. Jesus said in the 15th chapter of John that He is the vine and we are the branches to be a branch you have to abide in the vine. In verse three of that chapter Jesus tells us how to keep clean He says "Now ye are clean through the WORD I have spoken unto you. Every time we pick up the WORD of GOD it is Jesus speaking to us of the will and purpose of the Father through the Holy Spirit.Another siginificance of the Word abide is this:Is to live as a guest. Most people like to be guests. Think about this the preccious prospect, precious reality, that of being a guest of the Lord and being under His care and protection. When I read this my thought immediatly went to Psalms 91:1"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.Listen to this verse from the amplified translation" He Who dwells in the secret place of the most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty[whose power no foe can with stand]. Think about what a place to lodge or abide in. You and I have a great priviledge given to us to live in the presence of the Almighty God by becoming in grafted in the Word of God. I would like to give you one more scripture the Lord took me to when I was just looking at the WORD abide John 15:7"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Listen to this verse from the amplified translation"If you live in me[abide vitally united to ME]and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. I pray that this will bless you today as it has made me stop and think about how close do I abide in Christ My Lord. Have a Blessed and Healthy Day In Jesus. From Pastor Ken
