In the gospel of John fifeteenth chapter Jesus gives us the pattern of how to live in sound doctrine. He talks about a vine and a branch. He tells us he is the vine and we are the branches. As we look at one of the passages from that chapter lets think about what a vine is. It is the life line to the branch, it feeds the branch the nutrients that it needs to survive and bring forth fruit. So with this in mind lets look at verse four "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of its self, except it abide in the vine,no more can ye, except ye abide in me. Jesus is giveing us the key to succesful living in Christ we must be totally secured in the vine Jesus. I love the amplified translation of this verse."Dwell in Me, and I(JESUS)will dwell in you,[Live in Me,and I will live in you.]Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in(being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. This to me tells us that we can have a great life if we will choose a life dedicated to being attached to or engrafted in the life of Christ. The vine also represents the heart of the branch by this I mean the vine pumps his life into the branch and in doing so produces his life in the branch and the branch brings forth the fuit of the vine. In the first two verses Jesus tells us that the Father is the husbandman the one who purges and trims the branch so that that life of the vine continues to flow to the branch with full strenghth every day. How does the Father purge and trim us? I believe it is by our dedication to the WORD when we committ ourselves to this word He the Father uses it to keep us clean and pure so that we produce the fruit of the vine over and over into the lives of those we come into contact with. You and I are to bear the same fruit Jesus bore by being a light to those in darkness so that they will be drawn to the saviour. We are called to be the wittness of His grace in the earth. We are to feed the Word of God to the world around us. When we committ to the will of the Father as Jesus did we can expect Him to fulfill the promises in our lives listen to verse seven"If ye abide in me and my WORDS abide in you, ye(meaning you)shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Here is the amplified translation of this verse:"If you live in Me[abide vitally united to Me]and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. Now what do you think about what Jesus is saying to us? I believe he wants us to walk in the blessings but to do so we must get attached to the vine that produces the life of God in evry one of us who are called by His name. God bless you and have a blessed and healthy day in Jesus. From Pastor Ken
